This is a Whirlpool dryer control board. It manages and monitors the dryer's cycles based on user input. The control board can short out due to power surge or exposure to excessive heat or moisture. If the dryer's display is showing error code F-01, if the display is blank or dark, or if it is not responding to user input, the control board has likely shorted out.
Before installing this part, be sure to cut power to the appliance and allow it to cool completely.
The dryer will need to be pulled away from the wall and the lid of the dryer removed to access the damaged control panel. Disconnect any wire harnesses connected to it, making note of where each one is connected, and remove any screws mounting it in place before installing the new part.
